Yealink Base Station Factory Reset

Updated 29 Mar 2025 · 4 min read

This guide covers how to factory reset Yealink DECT base stations, including the W60B, W70B, W80B, W90B, and older models like W52P and W56P.

When to factory reset

A factory reset restores the base station to its original settings. Common reasons to reset include:

  • Troubleshooting persistent connectivity or registration issues
  • Preparing the device for resale or transfer to another organisation
  • Clearing a misconfiguration that's causing problems
  • Starting fresh after a failed setup attempt
  • Removing old handset pairings that are no longer needed

Before you reset

âš  A factory reset will erase all settings and unpair all handsets. This cannot be undone.

Before performing a reset, make sure you have:

  • Your SIP credentials from the Siptalk portal (server URL, username, password)
  • A note of any custom settings you want to restore (e.g., network configuration)
  • Access to all handsets that need to be re-paired afterwards
ℹ Your extension credentials in the Siptalk portal are not affected by the reset. You'll just need to re-enter them on the base station.

Method 1: Web interface

Use this method if you can access the base station's web interface.

Step 1: Access the web interface

Find the base station's IP address (check your router's DHCP client list or the handset's status menu) and browse to it from a computer on the same network.

Step 2: Log in

Enter the admin credentials. Default is usually admin / admin unless previously changed.

Step 3: Navigate to reset option

Go to Settings → Upgrade (or Management → Reset on some models).

Step 4: Perform the reset

Click Reset to Factory Settings and confirm when prompted. The base station will reboot automatically.

Settings → Upgrade → Reset to Factory Settings

Method 2: Physical reset button

Use this method if you cannot access the web interface, or if you've forgotten the admin password.

Locate the reset button

The reset button is a small recessed hole on the back or bottom of the base station, typically labelled "RESET" or "RST". You'll need a paperclip or similar pointed object to press it.

Perform the reset

  1. Ensure the base station is powered on
  2. Press and hold the reset button for 10-15 seconds
  3. Release the button when the LED indicators start flashing
  4. Wait for the base station to reboot (may take 1-2 minutes)
ℹ On some models, a short press (under 5 seconds) only reboots the device without resetting. Make sure to hold for the full 10-15 seconds for a factory reset.

After the reset

Once the base station has rebooted, you'll need to reconfigure it:

1. Re-pair handsets

Put the base station into pairing mode (usually by pressing and holding the pairing button on the base), then register each handset. On the handset, go to Menu → Registration → Register Handset.

2. Access the web interface

The base station will have a new IP address from DHCP. Find it in your router's client list or check the handset status menu after pairing.

3. Configure SIP account

Log into the web interface and enter your Siptalk SIP credentials. See the Yealink registration guide for detailed steps.

4. Assign lines to handsets

In the web interface, go to DECT → Handset & Account to assign SIP lines to each paired handset.

Model-specific notes

W60B

Supports up to 8 handsets and 8 SIP accounts. Reset button is on the back of the unit.

W70B

Supports up to 10 handsets and 20 SIP accounts. Reset button is on the bottom. Hold for 10 seconds.

W80B / W80DM

Multi-cell base station for larger deployments. Reset procedure is the same, but note that resetting the base manager (W80DM) will affect all connected bases.

W90B / W90DM

Similar to W80 series. Ensure you're resetting the correct unit in multi-cell deployments.

W52P / W56P (older models)

Combined base and charging cradle units. Reset button is typically on the bottom. Some models require holding the button during power-on for a full reset.
